My Story

I've baked for as long as I can remember. It started as a teenager making weekend treats for my family, and years of working in catering never managed to turn it into a chore.

I always wanted a tea room of my own. I left that dream a little late in life, so I built the next best thing: a tea room that travels. I bake from my kitchen, pair it all with my vintage china and bring the whole thing to your table.

For years I'd been doing afternoon tea set-ups for friends, family and special occasions, and I kept being told to do it as a job. I finally decided to listen, and I'm so glad I did.

The name was the easiest bit. I bake from my little cottage, and my nan, who I adored, was called Ivy. It was never going to be called anything else.

​

Then a friend at work pointed out that cake sheds were popping up in little villages and St Mags didn't have one. She had a point. On opening day, people were waiting to buy cakes before I'd even cut the ribbon. I'll never forget that.

So that's where we are now: the shed on Kingsdown Road, afternoon teas across the village, and occasion cakes and desserts made to order. I can't wait to see where this little business goes.
